Legendary Mexican singer Vicente Fernández has sadly passed away today, December 12, 2021 at age 81. Big Boy penned an emotional letter to beloved Vicente read below:
My heart hurts. I’ve dreaded this day for YEARS. I had a beautiful friendship with Vicente Fernandez. From my first interview with Chente, we hit it off. He had no idea why they were taking him to a Hip Hop station. He told the Hauser family, I didn’t know who he was. Little did he know about me and my listeners in Los Angeles. We had a GREAT time. He did my show countless times. I’ve seen him in concert well over 50 times. I would always take his sandwich trays from his dressing room after his concerts home. He allowed me to get on HIS stage and sing one of my favorites, “Aca Entre Nos” (Watch below). That was MAJOR for me. I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. In life, I’m honored to have had him as a friend. I have two charro suits he gave me. One was off his back. He said if I wanted that one, I would have to give him mine. The outfit I was wearing. We traded. I was over 500 lbs then and I couldn’t fit the outfit, so I had to walk to the car in my boxers and t-shirt. He would sing to me in my ear. He called me El Angelito Negro, (The Black Angel). He loved my Family. He blessed my son, Jayden while he was in Veronica’s belly. Staying at his ranch in Mexico was always memorable. He had my Family’s pic in his house. He was such a beautiful, kind, loving and caring person. I’ve patterned a lot of how I treat people who listen to me the way Chenté would do his fans. AMAZING!!! I have sooo many memories. I will truly miss him. Thank you for ALL the wonderful years. Love you, my dear friend. May you rest well, El Rey.
