LA authorities have reopened Los Angeles beaches after 17 million gallons of sewage spilled into Santa Monica Bay on Sunday.
According to LA County Supervisor, Janice Hahn, "a power outage at the Hyperion plant last night caused untreated sewage to be discharged into the ocean."
Beaches from El Segundo to the Dockweiler RV Park were closed for swimming the past three days because of the sewage spill.
The LA County Department of Public Health confirmed that the swim areas around Dockweiler State Beach and El Segundo Beach are now safe to swim in.
