In Houston Texas, a mother is charged with deadly conduct with a firearm when trying to shoot at a loose dog, but instead shooting her own son. The horrific event was caught through the dog owner's Ring doorbell.
The incident happened when the Vargas family were riding bikes around their neighborhood, where the 6-month old boxer puppy, Bruno, came running out of a neighbors house.
According to Brunos owner, he claims that before the shooting Bruno had been “barking and barking” which caused him to open the door and Bruno to run out the house.
The Ring doorbell shows the owner calling for Bruno to come back inside, until seconds later when the gunshots were fired at Bruno and the little boy.
Vargas’s son was soon rushed to the hospital and suffered no serious damages to the body and was left in a stable condition. The Detective J. Hasley with the HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence division says the boy was shot once in the abdomen by a small caliber pistol that his mom carried.
“She could have handled it differently. You know, she was there, her husband was there, I was there, nothing would have happened, nothing bad like that”, said Bruno’s owner.
As for the dog, Bruno only suffered a graze from the bullets. Bruno’s owner was given a Class C misdemeanor citation for having a loose dog.
