Teacher Gives Up His Own Shoes To Help A Student Walk Graduation Stage

A high school in Louisiana enforced a dress code that almost made a student not graduate.

A 19 year-old student named Daverius Peter who was nearly about to miss his graduation when his teacher; John Butler, saved the day with just a pair of brown loafer shoes. The dress code called for dark dress shoes. Peter wore black leather shoes with white bottoms and a worker at the door prevented peters from entering the building.

Butler came in and took off his own shoes from his own feet and gave them to Peter with no time to think since there wasn’t enough time to run out and buy new shoes.

The feeling Peter felt should not be something other students should experience especially on their big graduation day. Peter told the Washington Post that he was shocked and humiliated, he just wanted to walk across the stage and get his diploma.

In the end because Mr. Butler came through and helped his student walk the stage. He's looking to meet with administrators to look over the guidelines and not let any other student go through this again.

Peter shared a post on his social media sharing what happened to him. Peters also explained the Washington Post, “At school, if you’re having a bad day, he’ll be the one to take you out of class, walk around the school with you and talk to you.”

Peter's mother was greatly appreciative of butler. It's great to see a teacher who cares for their students.

Teachers like Mr. Butler are greatly appreciated!
