North Korea and Gen Z seem to have this opinion in common: skinny jeans, mullets, and certain types of body piercings have got to go!
According to Daily Express, North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un allegedly has banned all of these items for good. The news outlet says i's part of a crackdown by Kim Jong Un's government on capitalistic fashions.
"We must be wary of even the slightest sign of the capitalistic lifestyle and fight to get rid of them," the article said.
The communist regime has reportedly outlawed all but 15 "non-socialist" haircuts and has instead issued an order on "proper" hairstyles, the newspaper reported.
The article also cites a Yonhap News Agency piece from earlier this month, though that piece from the South Korean news agency makes no mention of skinny jeans or other items. Instead, it states that North Korea’s official newspaper had called for “efforts to prevent capitalistic culture from seeping into the country.”
Per the report, it also urged citizens to “hold on to our own lifestyle” or risk collapsing “like a damp wall.”
