UC System Officially Drops SAT & ACT Test Scores From Admission Requirement

About time!

The University of California has agreed to drop SAT and ACT test scores from its admissions and scholarship process.

According to ABC 7, the UC system says that under a settlement they won’t consider any of those scores for admission nor scholarship applications. They add that these standardized tests put minority and low-income students at a disadvantage. While privileged students has advantage because they are better equipped to higher opportunities.

While the SAT and ACT won’t be required anymore if students want to take them, they can but it won’t apply to their admission process.

However, by Fall 2025 the UC system says they hope to have another test for incoming students to take when applying to universities.
