Derek Chauvin's legal team has filed an appeal for a new trial.
Chauvin's attorney, Eric Nelson filed the petition asking the court for new trial alleging that the former police officer's constitutional rights were violated when the judge refused to change the venue of the trial.
Additionally, Nelson sited many other reasons in his request for a new trial including "prosecutorial and jury misconduct; errors of law at trial; and a verdict that is contrary to law."
