Shanya Robinson-Owens is living her Black Girl Magic in full effect!
The 17-year-old teen from West Philadelphia has racked up over $1 million in scholarships after applying to more than a dozen schools. Shanya applied to 20 different universities and thus far, has been accepted into 18 schools.
Shanya's aunt, Christine Owens, spoke with Good Morning America and told them that her nieces has always been a straight A student. However, the $1,074,260 in total scholarships is a nice, pleasant surprise.
"We are overjoyed," Owens said. "I knew she wouldn't have a problem getting into colleges, but we didn't know they would award her this much money in scholarship funds."
Shanya says she's been accepted to Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; La Salle University in Philadelphia; Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri; Temple University in Philadelphia and Cabrini University in Radnor, Pennsylvania, among others.
"I was pretty excited," Shanya told the news outlet. "I wasn't really expecting it."
Congratulations Shanya Robinson-Owens!
