Waitress Helps Rescue 11-Year-Old Boy By Writing Him A Note

A waitress in Orlando managed to get a boy removed from an abusive household by writing a note during a meal.

The waitress, Flavaine Carvalho became suspicious of a family that she was serving at the Mrs. Potato Restaurant in Orlando, Florida, on New Years Day when she noticed they weren't giving their son any food.

After noticing other signs of abuse, the waitress flashed signs behind the parents' back that read: "are you ok?" and "do you need help?" After several attempts, the boy indicated to her that he needed help, which she called the police.

"I just thought I need to do something," Carvalho told CNN. "I could not see him go away without any help.”

According to the police report, the boy was also suffering from other abuse, which included being handcuffed, hit with a broom, and hung him upside down from a door frame.

Since the incident, the parents have been arrested and the young boy is being taken care of by authorities.
