Fort Hood plans to honor Vanessa Guillen with a memorial gate by the base, her family says.
On Tuesday, Vanessa Guillen's family met with Fort Hood leaders in Texas at their military base to "discuss and review design concepts and survey a proposed site of a gate we plan to name in Vanessa's honor."
Lt. Gen. Pat White III, Fort Hood's commanding general, said it was important her family was present "for our final design that will come to fruition over the next few months."
