According to designer Joe Perez Kanye was originally going to name his 2013 album Yeezus something completely different, 'Thank God For Drugs.'
For the longest there were rumors going around that Kanye was going to name his album 'Thank God For Drugs" and now Perez has officially confirmed it for us!
Perez has worked with Kanye West for years, he's worked on cover art for Yeezus, The Life of Pablo, and Cruel Summer.
His caption read:
“3.2.2013 – Pre-Yeezus gif concepts – Round 2.
Before naming the album Yeezus, the title was “Thank God For Drugs” and
featured artwork by [George Condo].

The project’s title eventually changed to Yeezus as Kanye refined its minimalist aesthetic. At the project’s 2013 album release party, he explained his intention behind the title. “Simply put West was my slave name and Yeezus is my god name,” he said. “We didn’t give a fuck about what nobody said from the outside looking in. We just wanted to make the best product possible and this is just the beginning of an entire new mentality about how to make music.”
