The screenwriter of the movie Harriet is Gregory Allen Howard. He's been trying to get the film made for years. It finally debuted last month. During a pitch for the movie 25 years ago, Howard said, “I was told how one studio head said in a meeting, ‘This script is fantastic. Let’s get Julia Roberts to play Harriet Tubman.'” When someone told the studio head that Tubman was a black woman, the executive said, "‘It was so long ago.
