YouTube Fined $170 Million After Violating Child Privacy Laws

YouTube has been ordered to fork over a $170 million settlement for violating online child privacy laws.

The video-sharing site, which is owned by Google, was accused by the FTC of illegally collecting personal information from underage viewers without their parents' consent.

In response, YouTube announced it would change its policies and no longer show personalized ads on kid-friendly content.

It will also invest $100 million in creating new children's content on the platform.
