The last few days it seems like everyone has been using the FaceAPP - the app that's making most of us cringe because it lets us see what we might look like in 50 years!
Now while we were using it on ourselves, our friends and checking out all the celebrities using it like Drake and Dwayne Wade, Kevin Hart and more, it seems like no one was thinking about Privacy!
But guess what - someone looked a bit more into the app and turns out the parent company is a Russian company!!!!
The same country that pretty much hacked our country during the 2016 election! The terms of the Russian-owned app have led to a number of warnings about what it could actually be doing with your photos.

Basically it means that the photos you upload into the app might seem initially private, but that they could be used in very public ways later on. The company’s privacy policy makes clear that it is able to collect and store information from your phone and that it might be used for ads or other forms of marketing.
On top of that U.S. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer called on the FBI and the Federal Trade Commission to conduct a national security and privacy investigation into FaceApp, a face-editing photo app developed in Russia.
“While it may initially seem private, the terms of service from FaceApp may raise some concern around privacy since it’s not entirely clear on what is happening behind the scenes," said Gary Davis, chief consumer security evangelist for McAfee, a Santa Clara, Calif.-headquartered cloud cybersecurity company says.
