Their legendary but most importantly historically-significant business partnership has broken down racial barriers as the singer is the first African American woman to ever be a part of their elite designer repertoire. The genius mind behind Fenty explains how her alliance with LVMH is a “big day for the culture” as she wraps up her designs for their pop up on Friday, May 24th.
The massive luxury manufacturer is home to some of the world’s most high end brands such as Fendi, Givenchy, Dior, Louis Vuitton and now the business mogul, Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Altering her career path from singer to make-up connoisseur and designer, the Grammy award-winning artist has self-made a name for herself and continues to do so in spaces that are predominantly racially-exclusive. The CEO of the global fashion producer, Bernard Arnault is capitalizing off of the new wave of collaborations with Black female artists aligning with global fashion hegemonies. By doing so, they are constructing a new diverse world of inclusion that will hopefully trickle into other industries as well.
Consumers who are anticipating the drop of Fenty can expect to wait until May 29th for the release of Rihanna’s own luxury line. With the release of her summer campaign video, Ms. Fenty is pushing for her fashion house to be a global household brand as she established this through the many locations in her marketing sneak peek. Featuring some of the world’s most known landmarks, Rihanna is expecting to receive consumers from all ethnic demographics and is also urging for body diversity through her execution of clothing that will fit all body types. The groundbreaking musician, makeup brand stakeholder, and now luxury fashion designer is unapologetically leaving her mark in all types of artistry. Rihanna is gracefully bulldozing her way through restraining societal standards and is allowing her voice to be heard in other areas that aren’t musically-based.
