Megan Thee Stallion Claps Back Online About Her Mother's Death

Following the heartbreaking death of Crenshaw native, Nipsey Hussle; Hip Hop’s new golden child, Megan Thee Stallion announced the death of her very admired mother, Holly Thomas. Her mother became a beloved figure of the Twitter-verse as she was respected for her devotion to her daughter’s craft as a rapper who is following the footsteps of her late mother/manager. Tina Snow’s mother was informally known as “Holly-wood” back in Houston, Texas where Megan Thee Stallion pays homage to in her alias, “H-Town Hottie.”

Thee Stallion felt obliged to be more vocal and transparent about her mother’s death as a fan spoke out about some confusion over Megan’s public reaction to her mother’s passing from a brain tumor. The fan reached out to Megan via Twitter explaining that he didn’t understand how the Texas rapper remained so consistently herself even though she is going through a painful time in her personal life. Thee Stallion separately released a tweet that is very representative of the person she is as an inspiration to women everywhere. She signifies how she wants to “show people that [she] can still hold [her] head high even when times get tough.” This tweet instantly went viral as she showed strength and resilience in her capacity to be a hit-making rapper as well as a strong woman outside of her profession.

Megan Thee Stallion and her late mother, Holly-wood are modern reflections of the strong emerging Black women of music today. Cardi B has paved the way and made space for women like Thee Stallion to have such a successful platform and Tina Snow’s rested mother is certainly not left out of this legacy of influential and powerful women of Hip Hop who continue to positively impact generations of future female artists who proudly and loudly own their Blackness.
