Judge Rules Coffee Must Carry Cancer Warning
A California judge ruled Thursday that coffee will have to include a warning about cancer. The warning concerns acrylamide, a chemical produced when coffee beans are roasted. Acrylamide is one of 65 cancer-linked chemicals that must carry warnings according to California law.
Fast food restaurants in CA already post warnings about acrylamide. Coffee retailers such as 7-11 argued that the amount of acrylamide in coffee is not harmful. Some research has even shown that coffee contains cancer-fighting antioxidants.
