Taylor Swift Wins Sexual Assault Case, Releases Statement Following Victory

Monday (August 14), a judge ruled in favor of Taylor Swift in a sexual assault case stemming for an incident in 2013 between her and DJ David Mueller.

Swift was awarded $1 million in damages.

The singer released a statement on Tuesday (August 15) vowing to help those whose voices often go unheard in cases such as these.

"I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society, and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard," said Swift. "Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves."
