SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a driver who ran a stop sign and slammed into another vehicle, killing two people before fleeing the scene, has turned himself in.

The Santa Ana Police Department announced on its web site that 21-year-old Jorge Ocampo turned himself in Saturday.

Police say the collision occurred Friday in Santa Ana when a speeding Audi blew through a stop sign and broadsided a Nissan Sentra.

Fifty-three-year-old Alejandro Bravo died at the scene and his 50-year-old passenger, Juan Luna Castro, died at a hospital a short time later.

Police said Ocampo, the driver of the Audi, is a gang member who is currently on probation.

They added there were no skid marks to indicate Ocampo tried to slow down.
