Some cars now help you parallel park, but Ford is taking that a step further.

The automaker has demonstrated an even more advanced system that can drop you off and then park itself.

The technology is bringing us just one step closer to autonomous, self-driving cars that the automakers are promising will be common be the end of the decade. The Fully Assisted Parking Aid lets the driver get out, push a button on the key fob, and the car will park itself.

Some drivers say total self parking would be a blessing - finally letting people park in that spot that's so narrow the car door can't open.

The system also backs the car out and picks the driver up.
